Raven Mask who I know as @dis_rayduh from Instagram is hands down one of my favorite people that I follow. She kicks it to her followers all the way straight with no chaser, and has no problems posting how she feels. She’s funny, unique, and passionate about fashion and makeup…. and I got all of this just from IG. I don’t even know how I started following her, but I learned quickly that she does her own thing and marches to the beat of her own drum. I love how she’s not afraid to take chances with what she wears, and often makes her own clothes. She also does makeup specifically with bold colors which is always on point. Did I mention that she’s team natural and team tatted?? And when I say tatted, I mean full body! She’s a win all over the board in my book!
I wanted to make Ray the Boss Chic of the Month not just because of her style, but because of her ability to always stay focused and go for what she wants. Ray’s style to me is urban vintage, and she says she gets many of her pieces from thrift stores. I love how she takes pieces and sews them up to create her own look. I also love how she embraces her individuality and how she’s not afraid to be HER. You can check out a few questions I had her answer after the break as well as a gallery of some of my favorite looks of hers. Ray is definitely a boss chic!
1. What inspires your style?
My style is a way for me to express myself without words. I don’t really think about colors or textures, I go along on what I am feeling that day and after that its magic.. lol
2. What would you call your style?
I consider my style to be an Urban Vintage Twist. My favorite eras are the 80’s and 90’s!! But I also like the 50’s and 60’s because of all the class they presented back then.
3. How did you learn to sew?
I started sewing in High School.. I didn’t grow up with all the designer labels and all so for me creating my own was the best way to go. I was always turning my old things into new items and painting on clothes and making jewelry. So after I master sewing it was a beast in the making.
4. What inspires your tattoos?
Just life itself. All of my ink means something to me and my life… I would never get a meaningless tattoo because it’s on you forever… Most of art is dealing with fashion, makeup, art, my past, present, and future. Just things that reflect me and my life and where I want my life to go.
5. What do you plan on doing with your creativity?
God willing I would like to become a fashion stylist!! A person you can call if you need a quick fix from head to toe.. One stop shop!!
6. Positive message I could give younger girls?
Is to dream big and stay focus and keep God in your heart. You only have one life to live SO DREAM BIG ,CREATE BIGGER, AND LIVE LIFE!!!
